The duties of Islamic scholars and the danger of evil scholars
Dr. Abu Ahmed Ghulam Mustafa Al-Rai, Karachi
Allah Almighty says:
"Only those who have knowledge fear Allah."
(Surah Fatir, verse 28)
This verse makes it clear that the fruit of true knowledge is fear of God and piety, not mere degrees or certificates. Those who do not fear God are not truly learned, no matter how skilled they are in worldly learning.
The real responsibility of scholars
Practical adherence to the Quran and Sunnah:
It is the duty of scholars to understand and practice the true message of the Quran and Sunnah, and to convey its teachings to others.
Keeping the Muslim Ummah united:
It is the official duty of scholars to protect the Ummah from sectarianism, hatred, and group prejudice.
Teaching Islamic principles:
To promote social reform, justice and fairness, education and training, instilling the rights of Allah and the rights of His servants, and guiding practical acts of worship (prayer, zakat, etc.).
Modern science and education facilities:
Providing Muslims with opportunities in modern sciences, engineering, health, and research so that the Muslim Ummah can become strong, prosperous, and developed.
The danger of scholars being evil
Bad scholars are those who spread sectarianism, hatred, and false ideologies, and prioritize their personal or group interests over religion.
Instead of teaching the Quran and Sunnah, they spread the ideologies of their sect.
They divide Muslims and engage in spreading religious hatred.
Without true knowledge and piety, they only desire material or personal power.
A true scholar is one who uses his knowledge to reform, unite, and serve the community, not to spread chaos and sectarianism.
Unity of the Muslim Ummah
Allah Almighty sent Islam as a complete religion, in which the Quran and Sunnah have primacy and authority. It is not right to give priority to the opinion of any sect or person over religion.
Every Muslim should recognize his religion only as a Muslim.
It is essential to follow the Quran, Sunnah, and the good example of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), while avoiding sectarian prejudice.
Conclusion:
True scholars lead the Ummah on the path of unity, peace, reform, and progress in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah, while evil scholars spread discord and hatred. The strength and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah is possible only through this path.
